Name: Surabhee Shukla
Program: Master of Design (Sustainable Design)
Project: Autarky Habitat: A Sustainable Neighbourhood
Statement: Autarky Habitat is a proposal of an ideal sustainable city that focuses on the community conditions and it’s future requirements. It aims at making these communities smart as well as self-efficient. It is a modular city designed for 30,000 people as a response to the changing, unsustainable and rather exploitative ways of living. This scheme is an attempt to build a circular community ensuring circular flows of all the naturally available resources, energy, water, waste and food. The agenda along with the novel design development remains to preserve and promote the local cultural values and traditional heritage of every village, which in-tern maintains its uniqueness and authentic identity. This can be majorly done by the means of social sustainability and acknowledging the differences and individuality of each and every village.
